Camping has always been a huge part of our lives and when we had our daughter, we wanted her to experience the beautiful outdoors with us.

A camping high chair made our camping experience a lot more enjoyable and I highly recommend you get one.

The best camping high chair that worked great was the Baby Delight Go With Me High Chair. It has a removable snack tray and a canopy to provide lots of shade, and it is the most stable camping high chair we tested.

Our first camping trip with our infant was OK but one of us had to hold our baby while the other set up the tent and cooked. It was a lot of work!

But the camping high chair was a game changer and made camping more enjoyable for all of us.

Below are the best camping high chairs we tested and recommend to all of you outdoor enthusiasts.

The best options

We tested and selected the best camping high chairs based on quality, portability, and weight. Here are our top 5 camping high chairs.

  1. Baby Delight Go With Me High Chair. Best camping high chair overall.

  2. ciao! baby Portable High Chair. Best compact portable high chair.

  3. Summer Pop ‘N Sit Portable Booster Chair. Best booster seat for camping.

  4. Summer Pop ‘n Sit Portable Highchair. Highest camping high chair.

  5. Regalo My Portable High Chair. Stable camping high chair.

Best camping high chair for babies

These camping high chairs will make your camping experience with your baby go a lot smoother. Definitely add them to your camping gear.

1. Baby Delight Go With Me High Chair

The best camping high chair that is very portable and has a higher weight limit compared to others we tested.

If you are looking for the best high chair for camping, then make sure to add this one to your camping gear.

The greatest benefit of the Baby Delight Go With Me camping high chair is that it provides plenty of shade so your little one stays cool.

This is the reason why we got the Baby Delight Go With Me High Chair. Sometimes we don’t get a lot of shade where we go camping, but the canopy solves this issue.

We felt this was important because a baby’s skin is very delicate and can get sunburned easily. The canopy is wide and curved so it provides a lot of shade from all angles.

The removable tray made it super easy to feed our baby, especially when we started solids and during baby-led weaning.

The only thing about the tray is that it tilts forward and rounded fruits like blueberries will roll and your baby won’t be able to get to them.

It is also very sturdy and the 5-point harness secures your baby comfortably. They won’t be able to wiggle themselves out.

Your child can grow with this high chair if you make some minor modifications.

Now that my daughter is older, we use it as a camping chair. We had to cut the harness and leg holder off so she can easily get on and off by herself.

As far as packing, we liked how easy it folds and it is very compact once you fold it. It easily fits in your car with the rest of your camping gear.

All in all, we think this is the best portable high chair for camping, and this is why it was our top choice.

  • The maximum weight limit is 50 lbs, the highest of them all.
  • Your child is safe with the 5-point safety harness.
  • The removable tray with a built-in cup holder is easy to clean and makes feeding effortless.
  • It (could) grow with your child if you make some minor modifications.
  • The removable canopy provides lots of shade.
  • The tray slopes forward and food rolls away from your baby.
  • The holes on the harness where you put your baby’s legs through are a bit small.

2. ciao! baby Portable High Chair

Super lightweight camping high chair that is perfect for both outdoors and indoors.

The ciao baby portable high chair is a great quality camping high chair that I only recommend for babies. The reason is that it comes in one piece.

That means that the tray is not removable. The bottom of the tray is attached to the front legs and the back of the tray is attached to the backrest.

The tray is made of nylon, the same material as the high chair. It is not sturdy and sags a lot so feeding may be a bit tougher.

But I think the tray makes up for the bulkiness found in other camping high chairs. It folds together with the high chair and this saves a lot of space.

The other downside is that you can’t use this high chair beyond babyhood.

Unlike the Baby Delight high chair where I cut the leg holes and harness to use it as a camping chair, you can’t do that with this high chair.

Everything is in one piece and if you make a single cut, you might as well throw it away.

So again, this camping high chair is great for babies and infants but you won’t be able to use it with your older kid.

  • The 5-point harness securely holds your child.
  • The built-in food tray is easy to clean.
  • We thought this high chair was very stable.
  • Folds easily and is very compact.
  • It comes in one piece so assembly is not required.
  • The tray is not removable.
  • Toddlers and kids won’t be able to use this high chair.

3. Summer Pop ‘N Sit Portable Booster Chair

This is a great portable high chair that is low to the ground and fits everywhere once you fold it.

What we liked the most about the Summer Pop ‘N Sit booster seat is the height.

Our camping table is not very high and we like to keep it as low as possible because our camping chairs are not that high either.

So having our child very close to the ground and us was convenient. We also didn’t have to worry about our child tipping over and falling.

The size of this camping high chair also made it super easy to pack, especially on those occasions when we took a lot of food and gear. Since the chair is small, it fits right under the car seat.

Another great benefit was that when our daughter began walking, she was able to sit on her own independently.

But on the flip side, she outgrew it quickly and the chair became too small for her.

Another thing worth mentioning is that it has a 3-point harness. The harness straps your child around the waist and not over the shoulders.

The waist straps are sewn into the lower portion of the backrest and this made buckling our baby a bit weird.

  • Very affordable. Great if you are on a low budget.
  • Dishwasher-safe and removable tray.
  • Machine washable fabric (a huge PLUS!)
  • The low profile adds extra security to your baby.
  • The waist straps are designed a bit awkward.

4. Summer Pop ‘N Sit Portable Highchair

This is the best camping high chair to handle all the messes your baby will make.

What we liked about the Summer Pop N’ Sit high chair is that it is very stable. This high chair has very wide legs that add good stability.

There is a pocket on the back of the backrest where we stored napkins and bibs and we thought this was very convenient. It helped keep baby items in one place.

And just like the Pop N Sit booster seat, the fabric is removable. If you can’t wipe things off the high chair, just remove the fabric and throw it in your washer.

The tray is also removable and easy to clean, the only downside is that the tray does not have a cup holder.

  • Very lightweight at only 5 pounds.
  • The weight limit is 45 pounds.
  • Very stable and sturdy.
  • Easy to fold and very compact.
  • The 3-point safety harness is sewn in awkwardly.

5. Regalo My Portable High Chair

The most stable portable high chair we tested that adds extra security to your baby.

The most impressive thing about the Regalo My Portable High Chair is its stability.

The legs extend so far out that it is very hard for your child to tip over. We even tried to push the high chair sideways to see if it would flip over and it didn’t.

At 37.5” high, this is the highest portable high chair we came across. If you have a small camping table then this is going to feel a bit weird when you feed your child.

The tray is very easy to install and remove. It is also easy to clean, simply wipe it with a cloth and you are good to go.

Now, I mentioned that the legs provide good stability. The only issue we had was that we tripped on the legs because they extend too far out.

You have to be careful as you walk around this portable high chair or when you feed your baby. Watch your step all the time!

  • This portable high chair is very stable.
  • The bottom of the legs are skid-resistant.
  • The tray is easy to remove.
  • The leg holes on the chair are small and chubby babies will have a hard time fitting in.

Don’t buy these chairs!

I highly discourage you from getting chairs or booster seats that clamp onto a picnic table. I think these are very unsafe because the weight of your child may flip the table over.

Also, stay away from booster seats that you simply place on a chair. A dining chair might work and can hold the booster seat but you can’t place the booster seat on a camping chair.

Camping chairs are flimsy and not sturdy enough to hold a booster seat. This can mean trouble!
